The Kraken is a giant aquatic monster whose origins lie in Scandinavian folklore. It appeared in the Class of the Titans season 1 episode "Get Kraken."

Physical Appearance

The Kraken has a squid-like head, humanoid torso, and an eel-like lower body.

Personality

The Kraken appears to be a creature of anger and destruction. It is only seen trying to destroy the teen heroes until it was stopped.

Role In The Series

The Kraken is one of many creatures that Cronus would attempt to use to defeat the chosen teens. The large being was awakened in the ocean which quickly gained the attention of the heroes and Poseidon. While Poseidon was trapped by Cronus, the Kraken was tasked with trying to defeat the teens.

While it nearly defeated Herry and Atlanta, the teens re-grouping and Poseidon's arrival distracted it long enough for Odie and Archie to arrive by jet and deliver a bomb that re-sealed it in the ocean.

In Popular Culture

In Ray Harryhausen's 1981 mythological fantasy film Clash of the Titans, the Kraken was used to destroy the kingdom of Argos when King Acrisius sent his daughter and grandson into the sea to die. Unaware Perseus' true father was Poseidon, King Acrisius and Argos would pay the price as Zeus ordered the Kraken to lay waste to the kingdom and those who resided there.
